For many years, I have been especially committed to reaching out to young audiences, from kindergarten to college and beyond.
Wherever my travels take me, you can find me visiting schools, conducting masterclasses and engaging in discussions with students young and old.
In January 2010, I traveled to six cities across the United States with toy pianist Phyllis Chen in “The Sounding Off Tour 2010: A Fresh Look at Classical Music”, conducting outreach activities on campuses and performances in alternative venues, culminating at Le Poisson Rouge, New York’s leading venue for eclectic gigs.
With the aim of presenting contemporary classical music in terms with which young adults could connect, the program featured both traditional and experimental repertoire, performed on a variety of instruments such as traditional piano and cello, prepared piano and cello, toy piano, music box and electric cello.

I believe in participation rather than just presentation. I look for everyday toys or interesting electronic tools and incorporate them into the music making process, for example a nintendo Wii mote
…. or the Percussa Audio Cubes:
I believe that music can be for everyone and that it only takes a few introductory steps to open the world of classical music to young listeners. To get in touch with me regarding my outreach program, please click here to drop me an email or contact my agent.
